Failure Of The Finale

Put your hand up if you love Canada! My mind’s eye sees a hell of a lot of hands! Yes, as well as giving us terrifying bears, gorgeous women—it should be known that Canada has bequeathed some of the world’s most beautiful women, oh yes—and the greatest contact sport on ice, Ice Hockey no less, Canada is also the home of famed TV series Regenesis: a series following a group of elite scientists who tackle the things that–well–the things that all the other scientists in the world steer well clear of for very good reason; icky, nasty, not-worth-getting-out-of-bed-for things like horrible and mysterious diseases, unpleasant bio-terrorism schemes and the like—all that new fangled stuff that Scully and Mulder didn’t have the qualifications to have a go at. And let’s be honest, those two loved all that stuff, they weren’t afraid no slime monster / alien, etc…

But, sadly—and even though this is Canada yes, there is a but—the series has come under fire from the fans. What for you ask? The ending.

And maybe these fans have a point. After all, it is about what the fans think, is it not? No matter how much you love a show, if the ending doesn’t cut it then you can’t help but feel slightly cheated: even the X Files, a show which managed a fairly worthy ending, could have been improved.

But that’s the thing about being a fan, isn’t it? You’d only be truly happy if the director invited you on set and asked your humble opinions. Can endings ever be right and good?
