I Got The Little Sucker!
I don’t know why it is, but in our house we seem to go through vacuum cleaners like there is no tomorrow. I have actually lost count of just how many different ones have come and gone over the years! They only seem to last for a ridiculously short time before giving up the ghost. If it isn’t the hose that splits then it will be the roller that breaks on the bottom. Either that, or a ludicrously-designed weak piece of plastic will snap off; a piece of plastic that is vital if you want your vacuum to stand up on its own.
The last one we got is actually still working… However, the problem is that it is crap. It’s so heavy that it would be easier to push a fully-loaded cement mixer around the house and, as a bonus feature, it frequently falls over and cracks you round the back of the head when you are using the hose attachment…
Well, the other week I spotted something in the daily paper. It was a vacuum cleaner that only weighs 4 lbs. After spending a couple of months doing the hoovering with our resident cement mixer I found this idea to be very appealing; I rang-up straight away and ordered it.
It arrived earlier today and I can’t believe how tiny it is! But it actually works really well. It may only be very basic, but it is so damn easy to use! It is incredibly lightweight and it doesn’t attack you whilst you are going about your domestic chores. Even if it only lasts for six months or so then it will still have been worth getting. At £30 it was incredibly cheap compared to all the others on the market.
So, how long will it actually last? If it’s six months or more then it gets my vote. I’ll keep you informed; watch this space!
